Celia Rowlson-Hall is a filmmaker, choreographer, and Bessie Award Winning performer. Her short films have been exhibited at PERFORMA, Spring/Break The Armory Show, UQAM, Eyelevel Gallery, and Asia Song Society, and screened at SXSW and Rooftop Film Festival. She has choreographed music videos for bands such as MGMT, Sleigh Bells, Chromeo, SebastiAn (directed by Gaspar Noe), Sondre Lerche, and Erika Spring. Rowlson-Hall has performed at PS1/MoMA, New Museum, Joyce Theater, American Dance Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow, among many others.
During her residency at LegalArt, Celia will work on a video installation inspired by her interest in the “cost of time”, and the fantasy provided by themed rent-by-the-hour motel rooms in Miami. The artist will shoot scenes and dance performances in motels, each inspired by the theme or décor of the particular room.
