Nicholas Mirzoeff is Professor of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University, and Visiting Professor of Visual Culture at Middlesex University, London. He is Deputy Director of the International Association of Visual Culture. The author of many books and essays, his latest publications include "How To See The World" (Pelican Books, 2015) and the essay "Visualizing the Anthropocene" (2014). His book "The Right to Look" won the Anne Friedberg Prize for Innovative Scholarship from the Society of Cinema and Media Studies in 2013. Mirzoeff is also a member of the MTL Collective, an artistic collective engaged in visual activism, and he is the convenor of the Militant Research Collective, which published "The Militant Research Handbook" in 2013.
